labor day weekend events forsyth county gaLabor Day weekend is coming! If you are celebrating near or far, I wish you a safe and relaxing weekend. If you opt for a staycation, here are some fun things to do in and around Forsyth County, GA this weekend.

There are also lots of fun things to do in Atlanta this Labor Day Weekend. Check out Field Trips with Sue’s DragonCon Parade advice!

Friday, September 4

10:00 AM – Cumming Library – American Red Cross Blood Drive 

10:00 AM – Hampton Park Library – Busy Builders 

10:30 AM – Hampton Park Library – Preschool Play Day 

11:15 PM – Post Road Library – Preschoolers @ Post – Centers For Success 

Saturday, September 5

9:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Home Depot Kids Workshop – Football Toss Game

  • Come learn how to make a football toss game
  • FREE hands-on workshops; designed for children ages 5 – 12
  • All kid get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.
  • Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.
  • Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis. Please do not arrive before 9:00 a.m.
  • Thank you for registering online to help us better plan our craft kit quantities needed

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels Kids Club Event: Make a football windsock! Let the kids craft while you shop, and then they get to take their creativity home with them! Just $2 per 30-minute session – including supplies. Ages 3 & up welcome!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble – The Collection Forsyth. The Full Moon at the Napping House story time. In this long-awaited companion to the beloved classic The Napping House, a full moon is keeping everyone in the napping house awake! Finally, a musical visitor sends sleepy Granny, her energetic grandson, and their menagerie off to dreamland.

11:15 AM – Post Road Library – Saturday Family Storytime at Post 

Sunday, September 6

2:00 PM – Cumming Library – Family Movie. It’s movie time at the Cumming Library! Bring a pillow and popcorn to our meeting room and enjoy a family feature on the big screen. Our featured movie selection is Monsters, Inc. All ages welcome. No registration required.

ALL WEEKEND

IPRA World Championship Rodeo at the Cumming Fairgrounds Covered Arena from September 4 – 6, 2015 – Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 7:00 pm (Tickets go on sale 2 hours prior to the show) Gate Admission: Adults $15.00, Children 5-12 $10.00, 4 and under FREE. This is an 8 event Rodeo that includes: Bull Riding, Bare Back Riding, Barrel Racing, Cowgirl Breakaway Roping, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping and Saddle Bronc Riding.

Totally Running – Please join us for the Labor Day Run for Autism. Join us for the 4th Annual Labor Day Run for Autism Half Marathon 10K/5K and Fun Run to Benefit Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) hosted by Totally Running on September 7, 2015.

Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, GA opens Labor Day weekend! Fall fun at the farm starts this weekend. Enjoy their annual corn maze and lots of kid friendly activities. There is also a haunted barn opening in October for older folks. Open weekends from September 4 through November 15th. Pumpkin Patch – Corn Maze – Bonfire Hayrides – Friendly Farm Animals – Jumping Pillows Little Clay’s Corral – The Lost Cow Mine – Goat Walk – Pig Races Miz Rosie’s Milking Parlor – Farm Tours – and more!
Hours are as follows:
Friday 5pm-11pm
Saturday 10am-11pm
Sunday 10am-6pm
Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – 5 Burt’s Farm Rd Dawsonville, Georgia 30534. Hours will be from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. The hayrides will be weekends only until October then the hayrides will be 7 days a week. Hayride cost: Adults $5.00, Kids 12 & under $4.00, infants 12 months and under free.
